CODE OF ETHICS
The Scottish Terrier Club of New England was formed and exists to
encourage and promote the breeding of purebred Scottish Terriers and
to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
It is committed to do all in its power to protect and advance the
interest of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at
dog shows. Towards those ends, the following practices are condemned
as unethical and, if proven, shall constitute misconduct prejudicial
to the best interest of the Club or the breed:
1. The indiscriminate breeding of stock without due regard for
and consideration of hereditary defects; good health and physical
condition of the stock so bred and the quality of puppies produced
by such breeding.
2. The wholesaling of litters of puppies or selling of puppies or
breeding stock to or through pet shops, catalog houses or other
similar commercial sources of distribution.
3. The misrepresentation of or failure to disclose known
hereditary defects, health and physical condition of any stock
offered to anyone else for sale or breeding purposes.
4. The knowing violation of American Kennel Club rules regarding
record keeping, registration, sale and transfer of dogs, or the
rules and procedures regarding the exhibition of dogs.
By signing this Code of Ethics, I acknowledge that I understand
and agree with the purposes of the Scottish Terrier Club of New
England; that I will do my best to promote the best interests of the
Club and breed; and that I will not engage in any practice which is
unethical or prejudicial to the best interest of the Club.
